Split Pea Soup

Baby Food Recipes the Whole Family will enjoy!Split peas are a delicious source of protein, fiber and iron for you and your baby.  This recipe is so good (and easy) you may just want to double it so the whole family can enjoy!


  • 1 large potato (Russet or similar) – peeled and sliced into ¼ inch thick slices
  • 1 pear – peeled, cored and cut into slices
  • ½ cup of split peas – washed, rinsed and examined for wholesomeness
  • 3 cups low sodium vegetable broth
  • 1 tbsp olive oil


Combine all ingredients in a medium-sized pot over medium heat.  Bring contents to a boil.  Reduce heat, cover with a lid and allow to simmer for about 1 hour or until peas are tender.  Stir occasionally.  Pour contents into a food processor or blender and puree to desired consistency.

Makes about 3 cups and freezes perfectly!
