Delicious and Nutritious Meals for Your Littlest Foodie!

“You Sneaky Mom” Apple Sauce

Apple Sauce with Spinach Baby Food RecipeMy Littlest Foodie LOVES his apples and he’s not always a fan of green veggies.   To “sneak” some green into this kid’s diet I’ve started to add spinach to his apple sauce and he’s none the wiser!

Have you ever seen the Jimmy Kimmel clip “I told my kids I ate all their Halloween candy”?  Watch it and you’ll understand my “you sneaky mom” reference.  It’s an oldie, but a goodie!  If you haven’t seen it, click here if you’d like to check it out on YouTube for a good laugh! Anyway, he has yet to call me out for being a sneaky mom!  🙂

  • 2 sweet apples (like Gala or Honeycrisp) – peeled, cored and sliced into large chunks
  • 3/4 cup of water
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • a dash of nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 packed cup of washed baby spinach "You Sneaky Mom" Apple Sauce

In a small sauce pan, add water and bring to a boil.  Add apples and spices (if desired) and allow to stew for 5-7 minutes.  Add spinach and cook for another 2 minutes until spinach is wilted.

Transfer cooked apples and spinach mixture to a blender and "You Sneaky Mom" Apple Saucepuree until smooth.  Refrigerate until cooled and serve to your Littlest Foodie.  This recipe can be frozen for up to 2 months.
